We already told you about the big fuss made over Akshay Kumar's "incident" at a fashion show at the end of March. Twinkle Khanna was arrested for being a participant in the "dirty deed" and later released on bail. Well, now Akshay has willingly turned himself in to the Mumbai authorities with his lawyer in tow after coming back from filming.
The act that he's been arrested for is one of obscenity for letting Twinkle Khanna undo the top button of his jeans at a Levi's show. Everyone around him seemed to be having a laugh as well as the actor and his wife, but apparently the police and one "offended" individual didn't find it as humorous. It's always one person that has to ruin the fun for everyone else, right?
Assistant Commissioner of Police Arvind Mahabadhi said, "We arrested him under Indian Penal Code Section 294, which deals with obscenity in public. Since it is a bailable offense; he was released on bail." Still, Akshay Kumar had a sense of humor about the whole thing. He said "The news blew up when I was away. I just want to make it home from the airport without my car being egged by all those who have never been unbuttoned by their wives." Way to laugh it off, Akshay!
It seems pretty crazy that someone could be arrested for obscenity at a fashion show where everyone seemed to be getting the joke and having a good time. It's not that serious, people! It's 2009 and there are people who still get offended by this stuff? Luckily for Akshay Kumar, he's an actor and he can still have a laugh about the whole thing. So do our readers think this has gone too far? Should we find out who the offended person was and give him or her a piece of our minds? Let us know what you think!
